As part of this commitment, Mauritius aims to phase out coal by 2030, marking a pivotal shift in its energy strategy. The introduction of these projects will significantly contribute to the country’s goal of achieving 60% of its electricity mix from renewable sources, including solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. This ambitious target not only underscores Mauritius's dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also highlights its efforts to enhance energy security and resilience.

By investing in renewable energy infrastructure, Mauritius seeks to reduce its dependence on imported fuels, stabilize energy costs, and create a more sustainable energy landscape. This strategic move aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and enhance energy sustainability, positioning Mauritius as a leader in the transition to clean energy within the Indian Ocean region. The successful implementation of these projects will not only benefit the environment but also foster economic growth through job creation and the development of new industries focused on renewable technologies. As Mauritius embarks on this transformative journey, partnerships between innovative companies like Qair and Huawei will be essential in driving forward the nation’s clean energy agenda.

Louis Blanchard, CEO of Qair, expressed optimism about the collaboration: “We hope that Huawei will become a strategic partner of Qair, and we see this project as a new starting point for long-term cooperation between our two companies.” His sentiment reflects a shared vision for a sustainable energy future.

Charles Yang, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of Global Marketing, Sales and Services, Huawei Digital Power: “Huawei Digital Power business development cannot be achieved without the support of partners like Qair. We look forward to having significant and fruitful cooperation with Qair as we advance our shared goals in renewable energy.”
