[Dubai, UAE, September 11, 2025] On September 11, W.Media's Middle East Cloud & Datacenter Awards 2025 were unveiled in Dubai. Huawei's liquid cooling Thermal Management Unit (TMU) stood out among numerous cooling technologies and won "Innovation in Data Centre Cooling" award for its exceptional heat exchange performance, forward-looking reliability design, and agile intelligent O&M capabilities. This fully reflects the industry's strong recognition of Huawei's cooling solutions for artificial intelligence data centers (AIDCs).
The W.Media's Awards are among the most prestigious honors in the cloud computing and DC industry, aiming to recognize outstanding achievements and promote industry transformation and innovation. The "Innovation in Data Centre Cooling" award specifically celebrates groundbreaking technological advancements in the cooling domain of DCs.
Huawei TMU winning the "Innovation in Data Centre Cooling" award
In the era of intelligent computing, the power consumption of AI servers has surged, driving the rise in power density in DCs to over 50kW. Traditional air cooling solutions can no longer meet the cooling requirements of high-density servers in terms of energy efficiency, cooling efficiency, and deployment density. Liquid cooling now has emerged as the optimal solution.
Huawei has been deeply engaged in the cold plate liquid cooling technology. Its innovative TMU breaks through the functional limitations of traditional liquid cooling distribution units, achieving a technological leap from a "single component" to the "central hub of the liquid cooling system." This enables effortlessly handling of the high cooling requirements brought by high-density racks, empowering customers to build AIDCs that are reliable, agile, and sustainable.
Huawei TMU
Reliable: Huawei TMU adopts the industry's first dual AC/DC power supply architecture, achieving seamless switching between primary and backup power with stable coolant supply and zero server temperature rise. All key components (such as power supply, water pump, and water pump drive) adopt the 2N redundancy design, ensuring that single points of failure do not affect the operation of the entire system. The solution supports one-click maximum cooling and 20s fast restart. In extreme cases such as system leakage, it can refill coolant within 5 minutes without shutting down the equipment.
Agile: All critical components feature a modular design and support hot-swappable maintenance. Faulty modules can be replaced within one minute, ensuring stable system operation. Additionally, the expansion tank supports one-click self-check, automatic coolant discharge, and dynamic detecting of system operating pressure. This eliminates the need for regular shutdown detection, making operations and maintenance (O&M) easier and more efficient.
Sustainable: The efficient plate heat exchanger achieves the industry's lowest approach of 3°C and supports higher primary-side coolant inlet temperature, reducing primary-side power consumption by 3% to 15%. By integrating iCooling intelligent optimization and intelligent teamwork control, the solution can dynamically adjust cooling output to maximize the energy efficiency of the entire cooling system.
Huawei TMU was awarded the "Innovation in Data Centre Cooling" award in the Middle East, marking authoritative recognition of Huawei's thermal management technologies for AIDCs. This achievement is expected to further accelerate the wide adoption of TMUs in AIDCs worldwide.
Carrying honor, we journey on. Looking ahead, Huawei Digital Power will continue to refine thermal management solutions for AIDCs by leveraging its profound technological expertise and extensive practical experience. This is in an effort to safeguard the reliability of AIDCs and contribute to the high-quality transformation and advancement of the DC industry.
