Building a Green Data Center: Logan Group’s Journey Towards Sustainability

As the global journey to carbon neutrality accelerates, the real estate sector, one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions, is increasingly prioritizing sustainability. Chinese property developer Logan Group, in partnership with Huawei, deployed FusionModule2000, a green, smart modular data center solution, in its headquarters in Shenzhen, China, to meet the requirements of expanding businesses and drive sustainable development.

In line with the brand philosophy of “Shaping Cities and Homes with Responsibility and Sincerity", Logan Group, a dedicated city service provider, is committed to building green buildings and contributing to low-carbon cities.

As Logan Group steps up efforts to develop smart-community systems to meet and exceed residents’ sustainable living standards, the amount of data that needs to be stored and processed grows exponentially. To keep up with the added demand, Logan decided to build a brand-new, green, and reliable “house” for server cabinets to store and access ever-growing data.

FusionModule2000: An Ideal Option for Green Data Centers

Huawei FusionModule2000, a smart modular data center solution, serves as an ideal option for Logan Group as the green data center solution features highly efficient power supply and cooling systems that can greatly reduce the energy consumption of the data center.

FusionModule2000 enables the project to achieve 30% higher energy efficiency when compared with the traditional solution. Thus, Logan can save 760,000 kWh of electricity a year, which is equivalent to a reduction of 361 tons of carbon emissions.

Huawei FusionModule2000 adopts a fully modular design, which has far lower requirements for ceiling heights. Its modular approach allows the data center to be delivered in 2 months, 4 months earlier than planned. In addition, the space for power distribution and cooling cabinets is reserved for flexible expansion in five to 10 years.

The data center adopts the 2N redundancy power supply architecture, preventing single points of failure and ensuring service security in the event of device faults or mains interruption.

Huawei SmartLi, a lithium-ion (LFP) battery solution for UPS systems, is integrated into the data center, which means no separate power distribution room is needed. Therefore, the solution reduces the footprint by 70%, freeing up more valuable floor space for IT cabinets.

Huawei Smart Data Center Management System is used to identify alarm priorities and analyze and locate faults automatically. It can proactively isolate faults and change passive maintenance to proactive prediction. Only one O&M engineer is required to conduct routine O&M tasks.

Logan has been a frontrunner in going green, consistently pursuing eco-friendly business initiatives and providing value to society. Logan will continue to work with Huawei to advance sustainability and build a low-carbon, smart society through technology innovations.
