EPI Previews Upcoming White Paper on Power Trends, Challenges, and Solutions for AI Based Data Centers, with Significant Contributions from Huawei
Edward van Leent, Chairman & CEO of EPI Group of Companies mentioned, "The intelligent computing era demands a fundamental reconstruction of the power supply architecture. The traditional model is too slow, too inefficient, and too rigid for AI, this white paper provided a clear roadmap, demonstrating how the outdoor Power Train Unit PTU, through engineering productization and modularity, delivers the reliability, agility, and sustainability that AI data centers require to thrive."
At the event, EPI presented an exclusive preview of the upcoming white paper “Power Trends, Challenges, and Solutions for AI-Based Data Centers,” developed with significant contributions from Huawei. The presentation attracted widespread attention from data center leaders, policy influencers, and technology partners across the globe, underscoring the growing urgency to rethink traditional power infrastructure in the era of artificial intelligence. The presentation highlighted how the outdoor Prefabricated PTU—a fully integrated, modular, and prefabricated system—can effectively address the critical challenges in AI data center development, including power density, scalability, and deployment efficiency.
As a key collaborator, Huawei contributed its deep expertise in power electronics, intelligent algorithms, and system integration, reinforcing its leadership in building sustainable, intelligent, and AI-ready data center ecosystems for the global digital future.
Showcasing Next-Generation Infrastructure Solutions
Huawei also introduced its innovative Reliable, Agile, Sustainable (RAS) guideline for AI DC construction, built upon advanced products, global ecosystem collaboration, and professional services. Huawei's exhibition featured innovative solutions designed to address critical industry requirements:
1. AI DC Solution: A revolutionary architecture delivering exceptional reliability through end-to-end safety design, enabling rapid deployment with on-demand construction capabilities, and achieving industry-leading sustainability with PUE as low as 1.1x. The solution incorporates smart manufacturing principles to optimize costs while ensuring business continuity and future-ready scalability.
2. AI DC Infrastructure:An integrated computing platform combining Ascend hardware, OceanStor storage, and ModelEngine toolchain to deliver out-of-the-box AI capability. The solution offers optimized performance and accelerated deployment for industries including finance and healthcare.
3. High Reliability Power Supply:Featuring Huawei's innovative PowerPOD series with FusionPower solutions that reconstruct power supply chains through intelligent node optimization. The FusionPower6000 enables "one power supply for one row" architecture with full-link integration, while the containerized FusionPower9000 combines power, cooling, and control systems to maximize deployment efficiency and operational reliability.
4. Smart Cooling Technologies: Huawei presented its innovative cooling portfolio, including Thermal Management Unit (TMU), Huawei Liquid Cooling Thermal Management Unit (TMU) adopts the dual-AC/DC architecture to ensure seamless switching between active/standby power supplies. The Fan Wall Cooling (FWC) system, a high-temperature chilled water solution that reduces energy consumption and offers flexible deployment without the need for raised floors.
5. Smart Modular Data Center:The FusionModule2000 supporting hybrid deployment of general-purpose and intelligent computing servers. With power density reaching 50 kW/rack using air cooling technology, it enables efficient deployment, simplified maintenance, and stable operation for AI inference scenarios.
Driving Sustainable Digital Transformation
Huawei’s participation attracted strong interest from data center operators, enterprises, and technology partners across the region. The showcased solutions reaffirmed Huawei’s leadership in building infrastructure that balances performance, efficiency, and sustainability. Huawei’s Key Benchmark:
In December 2024, the K2 Data Center in Johor of Malaysia, powered by Huawei's PowerPOD, won the "Editor's Choice - Data Center Project of the Year" at the DCD Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony, setting a new benchmark for AI data center construction in the Asia-Pacific region.
By combining technological innovation with industry collaboration, Huawei continues to position itself as a key enabler of the next wave of digital transformation — delivering the reliable, agile, and sustainable AI data centers required to power the intelligent era.
