Kela PV Plant in Yalong River: Huawei's DC Triple Safety Protection Tackles High-Altitude Extreme Environments

With a total installed capacity of 1,000 MW and an average annual generation of 2 billion kWh, the Kela Hydro-Solar Hybrid PV Plant in Yalong River is the world's first energy complex built on a 4,600-meter-high permafrost layer. The plant operates under extreme weather, including cold temperatures as low as -30°C and fierce winds of up to Level 13. Engineered for these harsh conditions, Huawei inverters feature an integrated stretch-formed design with IP66 protection and an industry-first triple DC safety protection mechanism, ensuring plant safety and reliable power generation even at high altitudes. Looking ahead, the Yalong River Clean Energy Corridor is expected to exceed 78 GW in total installed capacity, becoming the largest clean energy base in the world.
