Huawei started out in 1987 in a small apartment in Nanshan District, Shenzhen. As business expanded, the company's offices were moved to the Science and Technology Park in Nanshan, before finally, Huawei began construction of its own campus in Bantian, Longgang District in 1998. By 2003, the 400 acre campus was up and running with 11 different specialized zones designed in a variety of different styles. As of today, 38,000 Huawei employees work at the Bantian Campus.
