Huawei Data Center Facility Forum 2022: Embracing the Next-generation Data Center in Europe

[Paris, France, October 18, 2022] Huawei Data Center Facility Forum 2022 was recently held in Paris, France, aiming to promote the development of low-carbon and smart data centers. The forum, with a theme of "Smart DC, Building the Green Future", convened many industry leaders, experts, and partners to discuss the top trends and the latest technologies of the data center industry.

Embracing Next-Generation Data Centers

"As the backbone of the digital economy and intelligent world, the data center industry is embracing a record boom. Bernard Lecanu, Former President of EUDCA, Managing Director at BL International Consultant ltd., shared the seven trends that will shape the data center industry for the next five years, including zero carbon DC, high density, fast, simple architecture, lithium for all, fully digitalized, and AI enable, providing an effective path for sustainable development of data centers.

In his keynote speech titled "Usher in a New Era of Carbon Neutrality-Huawei Next Generation Data Center Facility", Sanjay Kumar Sainani, Global Senior Vice President and CTO of Huawei Data Center Business, noted that Huawei innovatively proposes the concept of the Next-Generation Data Center Facility, which features sustainable, simplified, autonomous driving, and reliable. Based on these four characteristics, Huawei has been devoted to developing a series of innovative data center facility solutions, such as FusionPower6000, a preferred solution for power supply system, and the indirect evaporative cooling solution EHU (Environment Handling Unit). We aim to help global customers and partners build future-oriented green, and smart data centers.

Promoting the Development of Greener Data Centers

Eloy Unda Marcitllach, Business Development Manager of PQC Engineering, said that the data center should be designed to achieve goals of resilience, efficiency, sustainability and CAPEX, to promote the healthy development of the data center industry.

Richard Pimper, Vice President and CTO of Huawei WEU Data Center Business, shared his insights into how the FusionPower6000 and Indirect Evaporative Cooling solution ensure the reliable operation of large data centers. Featuring the innovative converged design, the FusionPower6000 solution can save the footprint by 40% and reduce energy consumption by 60%. Besides, the Indirect Evaporative Cooling solution, with natural cooling sources, was used to reduce the PUE from 1.28 to 1.15 in Ireland.

Realizing carbon neutrality calls for the construction of low-carbon data center facilities. In the panel discussion, Sanjay Kumar Sainani, Global Senior Vice President and CTO of Huawei Data Center Business, Oliver Schiebel, CEO of Mainova WebHouse, Bernard Lecanu, Former President of EUDCA, Managing Director at BL International Consultant ltd., Eloy Unda Marcitllach, Business Development Manager of PQC Engineering and Richard Pimper, Vice President and CTO of Huawei WEU Data Center Business, discussed how to design and build a green data center and how to advance sustainable development goals of the industry.

At the forum, Huawei unveiled four Technologies White Paper, including UPS S-ECO Technology White Paper, Data Center FusionPower6000 Technology White Paper, Next-Generation Intelligent Indirect Evaporative Cooling Solution White Paper, Next-Generation Prefabricated Modular Data Center White Paper, navigating the path to data center sustainability.

 

 

Digitalization and low carbonization are two major trends. In the future, Huawei will continue to work with customers and partners to build low-carbon, smart data centers, and help Europe achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.
